Despite obstacles, SC gov candidate's star rises Remember
the Palin bumper sticker, "Coldest state, hottest Governor"? South

SC state senator refers to candidate as 'raghead' - Maybe we
should make the
palmetto bug the new symbol of South Carolina politics. For
those who haven't lived in South Carolina, it's like a giant flying

looks like the politics are shaking the tree a bit. No party in South
Carolina seems to escape them. |

SC gov faces 37 charges he broke state ethics laws - Comment:
Meanwhile, did anybody notice that the Senate let Roland Burris (D-IL)
off the hook in their ethics probe of his dealings with disgraced former
Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich? It was just in time for the health
care vote. There also hasn't been any progress on other ethics probes in
Congress - such as Rangel and others. The Republicans get forced to
resign in disgrace, while the Democrats get off the hook unless they do
something so bad that they are actually prosecuted successfully for it.
Sanford clearly made a big mistake. His opponents will go after him, as
this report shows. Unlike Sarah Palin, for whom it was just endless
petty harassment to disrupt her life and work as governor through
spurious charges, Sanford needs to put the people of South Carolina
first and resign so that this harmful soap opera comes to an end.
Let's just keep this all in perspective, however. |
