| This
website was launched on January 20, 2009 as a personal commitment to
defy the statist insurgency in America right away, rather than to simply
wait for alternatives in the 2010 elections.
Organized, principled leadership at the local level can influence or
stop harmful changes which the Republican minority in Congress is unable
or unwilling to defeat. Tyrants only fear the loss of their own
power. Democrats will only moderate their behavior if they face
certain defeat in 2010. The same is true of some Republicans who
care more about staying in office than doing the right thing. We
need a new generation of local leaders who respect basic American values
and accept that public service involves commitment to a carefully limited role for government,
rather than unchecked powers and spending authority for themselves and
their favored supporters.
If you support this approach, please consider how you
can get involved to make a difference.

Network with us.
Spread the word. Help us to reach relevant Americans. |
| We
have already attracted over 220,000 visitors in less than
10 months.
That's a good start, but our objective is to make a difference rather
than to simply develop a large audience. Our focus is to empower
individual leaders to find other resources, information, and contacts
which will enable them to have a greater impact in their local
communities. That adds up to a national impact, but the point is
to encourage and support local activists rather than to develop a loyal
readership like a blog. This is not about making Surge USA
popular. It is about empowering many Americans at the local level.
We're always looking to connect with relevant groups -
whether through tools such as
Facebook
or
Twitter or
through online communities such as
Plaxo,
LinkedIn,
or
Google
Groups. We welcome invitations to join relevant groups or
link with supportive individuals on any such platform. We
periodically contribute comments on various blogs, such as at
Newt.org and others. This includes interest in local
Tea Party Nation
groups and
ResistNet State Groups as well as the local initiatives of
Tea Party
Patriots ever since the start of the Tea Party movement in
February.

Even small amounts add up. Let us know about other groups you

| This
is not a PAC or a non-profit organization at this time. It is a
personal, out-of-pocket initiative as an investment of after-tax savings
as well as a lot of personal time and effort. Donations are not
deductible. Funds are not being raised for donation to political
campaigns or special interest lobbying groups. Donations just help
defray the costs of maintaining and promoting this website so that more
Americans will become aware of our services, and how they can get better
informed and involved with the various initiatives and contacts we
highlight in their area. |

What work can we do
to help you? Let us earn your investment in our work. |

can also be a very inexpensive way to promote what is being done in your

we can work directly for you on a contract basis if your needs are
relevant to our capabilities. Work

links. We'll share what you are doing, if you'll share links to us
too. |
| Text
links, such as in blogrolls or directly to relevant pages of this site,
are welcome. If a logo link is of interest, use
these images or ask for one which
fits your space requirements.
Please let us know where the link appears, and how you suggest
that we link to your site. Note that we generally try to avoid
links to sites which show a pattern of abusive rather than constructive
content. Serious political criticism shouldn't cross the line into
threats or abusive language. We are more interested in links to
sites which will better inform voters and help them to get involved. |

Research
support. Volunteer your expertise and time to expand what we can
do. |
| We
try to prioritize our time and efforts. There are many interesting
organizations out there, as well as blogs and news sources. As we
used to say in the State Department, while we're asleep, two thirds of
the world is up to some mischief. It's hard to keep track of it
all. If you have expertise to share which may
help us to better inform or network the Americans we are trying to
empower through our content, we welcome your suggestions and assistance.
There may be very useful organizations or sources of information which
we simply haven't discovered yet. As 2010 election campaigns get
started, it will also be difficult to keep track of hundreds of
campaigns. Volunteers in every state are welcome to assist in this
process.
This website is, by design, not a social networking
platform. We have chosen instead to make use of other platforms
and sites, as listed above, for such functions.
This site has a fairly simple design for search engine relevance and
targeted advertising purposes. We also provide custom search tools
to empower individuals to find information across groups of relevant
sites, such as our "conservative search tool",
Republicans in the Senate or
House, and
Republican governors. A
recent addition was our "Tea Party Search"
tool. We may develop others, as we have already done for business
development purposes at
www.ShortListNews.com (links in column at right). |

Expose good
candidates and specious ones. Help voters to recognize the
difference. |
| As
2010 and 2012 elections approach, we would like to highlight good
candidates as well as the track record of
specious ones who deserve to be
selected out of the political gene pool.
Please let us know about such candidates, including links to
campaign websites or facts about them. At this
time, we expect to share this through a combination of the
Surge by State pages and links to other
social networking sites or groups where individuals can share their
comments and useful content about such candidates. Our preference
is to do this through open platforms which make an effort to moderate
the content to avoid misleading and abusive content, including worthless
rants which add nothing to the effort to help voters make a better
informed choice. Stick to the facts.
For example, this group was set up at Tea Party Nation
for the
Illinois 8th Congressional District as a first step to inform
voters of the track record of Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean.
Similar tools have been created for this and other Congressional
districts among
ResistNet State Groups. Some of the other Tea Party
activists, such as
Tea Party
Patriots, have also started to shift tactics away from mass
demonstrations in cities and to focus on specific issues and elected
officials. As this moves forward, various PACs and interest groups
will focus on individual campaigns. Rather than duplicate their
efforts, our approach (like the custom search tools we set up) is to try
to make it easier for voters to find such content across the many
sources which already exist. |

Background
about the launch of SurgeUSA |
|
Starting as nothing more than an idea about the importance of empowering
individual Americans to inform themselves about the changes which are
being made to their country, and how to connect with people who share
their concerns, this grew quickly into a full-time commitment. The
dizzying pace of Democratic initiatives in Congress and the White House,
as well as world events and the fast-growing "Tea Party" resistance
movement, soon made this more than a part-time initiative. |
| What
started as a personal expression of defiance and freedom of speech to
help organize the resistance to the liberal insurgency in America
therefore needs to move to a new level. As the Tea Party movement
quickly demonstrated, there are millions of frustrated Americans who are
firmly opposed to the changes which are being made to this country, and
willing to step forward in their own communities to do what they can to
make a difference.
These "reluctant activists" are the grassroots
patriots who will, independent of any political party or special
interest group affiliation or political candidate preferences, bring
American government back under control with common sense and unity of
purpose. They may disagree vigorously on some specific issues, but
they exemplify the American spirit of individual responsibility and
determination. They will figure out together how to overcome this
latest challenge, and do it. |
| The
key point is that Surge USA has already been growing rapidly at a time
when many voters are not yet paying as much attention as they will in
the months ahead when the economy fails to recover and the 2010
candidates start their campaigns. As controversial political
decisions start to attract the attention of voters, Surge USA is
intended to already make it easier for them to find local connections
where they can choose to get involved and do something about their
concerns. The premise is that, as in
counterinsurgency tactics, the key to victory is to get the people to
turn against the insurgents, and stand up for themselves instead of
accepting the tyranny by a small minority as something which they cannot
change. We surround them. Our country is being ruined by a
few hundred misguided politicians and their staff and other bureaucrats
who have forgotten that "we the people" don't want them to meddle in
every aspect of our lives at growing expense. They have been
temporarily given our trust as public servants to do specific things -
not a general mandate to do as they please just because they won an
election. When the public turns against them, their tyranny will
be history. Until then, we can only minimize the damage they are
doing and speed up that day of reckoning by exposing their reckless and
harmful abuse of power. |
